Crime prevention efforts are spreading through the city of Meridian with just about every month with new Neighborhood Watch groups.

Lt. Rita Jack says they have four new groups that will begin meeting through the month of May. She says the groups that have been participating in the program have been successful in coming together and discussing ways to put an end to crime in their areas.

“Most of the groups are coming along really well. They are taking charge. I started out helping with the paperwork and finding meeting locations and securing guest speakers. Guess what? They are well on their way,” Lt. Rita Jack says.

Jack says new meeting groups include Red Line, Meridian Activity Center, Velma Young Center and Mt. Barton, which the Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors are assisting with.
