The Rockets began the week with the third grade reading test and will move on to science, math and more next week. Neshoba Elementary Principal Tiffany Plott says teachers, faculty and parents try to prepare students all year long leading up to the big tests, particularly by taking similar ones beforehand.
"We're mimicking the state tests, preparing our kids every day that we're not waiting until we get the test to actually see what we need to do," said Plott. "We're filling in the gaps, we're looking at the data. We're looking at strengths and weaknesses, identifying those, and making sure that we're just growing kids every single day."
Plott says the tests are important because it allows administrators to see where they can approve upon in the classroom.
The school received an "A" grade just last year.
