Neshoba Co. man accused of burning down his own home

NESHOBA COUNTY, Miss. (WTOK) -- A Neshoba County man accused of burning down his own home has been taken into custody.

The fire happened around 6:45 Wednesday night at a home in the Goforth Trailer Park in the Sandtown community. The fire reigntied Thursday morning.

Neshoba County Sheriff Tommy Waddell says Alvaro Robles was detained at the scene by an off-duty officer and a probation officer. The home was destroyed in the fire. The sheriff says the suspect confessed to the crime.

"The suspect stated that he poured gas in the home, lit the fire, basically because he was fed up with his spouse," said Waddell.

"The suspect also told another member of the family that was living there anything he wanted to save he better take it from the home because he was going to set fire to it," said Waddell.

No one was inside the home during the fire, but several people lived there, including young children. Bond has not been set for Robles.
