MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - We are learning new details in the April 28th shooting death of 30-year-old Tajh Forbes.
In the preliminary hearing of murder suspect Marcus Wooten detectives explained that they believe Wooten walked up to Forbes while he was in his parked car and then shot him multiple times with an AR15 Pistol.
Investigators explain that the gun was inside of a mesh bag while it was being fired and that led to some confusion when it came to the locations of the shell casings at the scene, but it was a trail of blood that led them to the evidence and then to Wooten.
Police say the blood trail led to a nearby creek where the gun was found still inside of the bag. That blood trail then led back to where Wooten was located with gunshot wounds.
It was also revealed that Wooten is in the gang "Gangster Disciples". The motive behind Wooten's actions was not given.
A warrant was issued for DNA samples and were samples were collected in the courtroom. Authorities say they will compare those samples to a glove that was found with the gun.
Wooten had nothing to say as he was taken back to jail on a stretcher.
