No charges to be filed in Meridian stabbing

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Meridian police are investigating a stabbing that happened in the city Friday evening, but they say there won't be any charges in the case.

Sgt. Dareall Thompson says an intoxicated man hit a woman with an object in the 100 block of Martin Luther King Junior Drive around 8 p.m.

He says while the woman was trying to protect herself, she stabbed the man in the back of his head with a small knife.

He was picked up a few blocks away from the altercation and taken to a local hospital.

Sgt Thompson says the man does not have any life-threatening injuries.

The woman is not pressing any charges. Investigators say this is an isolated incident.
