MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Phone scammers are at it again - this time using an old but convincing tactic.
Lauderdale County Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun says the callers claim to be with the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department. They even use the names of real deputies and officers. Calhoun says one victim said the caller had used Calhoun's name.
The caller will say there is a warrant for your arrest and you need to pay a fine, but this is a scam. Law enforcement will never call you demanding money.
