A death investigation is underway in Clarke County after a shooting Monday afternoon in the Energy community.

Clarke County Sheriff Todd Kemp says a suspect is in custody, 24-year-old Isaiah Roy Roberts of Lauderdale County. However, authorities are not sure of the victim's identity.

Kemp says deputies responded after a 911 call was made about 2 p.m. about a shooting at a residence on County Road 514.

Deputies eventually found a man behind the home, face down, dead of a gunshot wound.

"We're unsure about who the victim is at this time," said Kemp. "We're still trying to get him identified. We believe he is also from the Lauderdale County area, but we have not confirmed that at this time."

Roberts is currently being held at the Clarke County Jail and will be officially charged Tuesday.
