OXFORD, Miss. (WTOK) - The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation confirmed Tuesday that Matthew Paul Kinne, 38, an officer with the Oxford Police Department, was arrested for murder in the death of Dominique Clayton.

Kinne is being held in the Panola County Jail pending his court appearance.

MBI was asked by the Oxford Police Department Sunday afternoon to assist in the investigation, after authorities learned of the possible relationship between Kinne and the victim.

“MBI is working this homicide with the same due diligence and fact finding determination as they do in each and every case,” said Commissioner Marshall Fisher.

MBI says it will continue to work all leads on the case and provide all facts and findings to the district attorney’s office for review at the completion of the investigation.
