DEMOPOLIS, Ala. (WTOK) - The victim who reported he was robbed at gunpoint in Demopolis two weeks ago has now been arrested in the case.

Demopolis public safety director Tommy Reese says in a press release that Robert Bledsoe, 42, claimed he was robbed Aug. 30 at Captain D's restaurant on U.S. 80. Bledsoe is a delivery driver for the restaurant. He told police the robber shot him in the arm before running away.

Reese says investigators discovered Bledsoe was not robbed.

Police believe Bledsoe shot himself and made up the entire story. He's now charged with making a false report to law enforcement authority, rendering a false alarm and tampering with physical evidence.

Bledsoe was processed and released on Bond.
