Rivers are rising again with more rainfall

Additional rain has our rivers rising again.

A Flood Warning is in effect for....

THE PEARL RIVER AT BURNSIDE NEAR PHILADELPHIA

Wednesday evening, the river level was reported at 13.01 feet. Flood stage is 13.0 feet. Minor flooding is occurring. The river has swelled over flood stage again with additional rain. More rain will keep the rising rising to a crest near 14.0 feet late Friday or early Saturday. The river will then slowly recede, but it will likely stay above flood stage through at least Monday night.

THE PEARL RIVER AT EDINBURG

On Wednesday evening, the river level was reported at 20.62 feet. Flood stage is 20.0 feet. Minor flooding is occurring. Water levels are rising again, and the river will rise to a crest near 22.5 feet on Saturday night. The river will be above flood stage beyond the current flood stage, which ends Monday night.

THE TOMBIGBEE RIVER AT DEMOPOLIS

On Wednesday morning, the river was reported at 84.99 feet. Flood stage is 68 feet. Moderate flood stage is 77 feet. Moderate flooding is occurring. The river gauge has failed, so a more recent reading is not available. The river will likely hover very near 85 through late Friday night before beginning to slowly recede. The river will be above moderate flood stage beyond the current forecast period, which ends Monday night.

THE TOMBIGBEE RIVER AT COFFEEVILLE

On Wednesday evening, the river was reported at 44.95 feet. Flood stage is 29.0 feet. Moderate flood stage is 40.0 feet. Moderate flooding is occurring. Water levels are still rising, and more rain will add more water to the problem. Current forecasts indicate a crest near 46.7 feet on Friday. It will then very slowly recede, but it will remain above moderate flood stage beyond the current forecast, which ends Monday night.

THE TOMBIGBEE RIVER AT GAINESVILLE

On Wednesday evening, the river level was reported 110.93 feet. Flood stage is 101.0 feet. Moderate flood stage is 110.0 feet. Moderate flooding is occurring. The river will slowly recede, though additional rainfall tonight and Thursday may complicate the forecast. The current forecast indicates the river will recede to below moderate flood stage early Thursday and then below flood stage late Monday night.

THE TOMBIGBEE RIVER AT BEVILL LOCK AND DAM

On Wednesday evening, the river level was reported at 127.61 feet. Flood stage is 122.0 feet. Minor flooding is occurring. With additional rain, the river will rise toward a crest of 128.3 feet by Friday morning. The river will then recede to below flood stage Sunday night.

THE NOXUBEE RIVER AT MACON

On Wednesday evening, the river level was reported at 27.57 feet. Flood stage is 26.0 feet. Minor flooding is occurring. With additional rain, the river is rising again. It will rise to a crest near 31.6 feet late Friday night or early Saturday morning and then begin receding again. Water levels will be above flood stage beyond the end of the current forecast, which ends Monday night.
