LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss. (WTOK) - For 30 years, hundreds of bikers have driven across the U.S. in Run for the Wall. The bike ride honors and remembers all U.S. veterans. Bikers stopped in Meridian Monday.
Charlie Nation is a biker who has participated for several years. He said Mississippi is one of his favorite states to ride through.
"We're always excited to come into Mississippi," Nation said. "This is one state that really goes all out for Run for the Wall."
The 2019 southern route again included Newton and Meridian. Three teams left Ontario, Calif., May 15 to make the trek across the northern, central and southern parts of the nation to meet up again in Washington, D.C. for Memorial Day Weekend.
The annual cross-country motorcycle ride has as its mission to promote healing for all veterans and their families, honors and supports all military personnel and calls for an accounting of all prisoners of war and those still missing in action.
Riders are staying overnight in Meridian before heading to Tennessee Tuesday morning.
