There will be a runoff between Democrat candidates, Craig Houston and Loretta Bennett, for Lauderdale County District 2 supervisor.

The final, complete tally was released Friday by the circuit clerk's office:

Craig Houston 679

Loretta “Lo Lo Allen” Bennett 442

Cornelius Parks 238

To win, candidates must get at least 50 percent plus one of the total number of votes cast. Houston fell short of that mark by two votes, receiving 49.96%.

The runoff is Tuesday, Aug. 27. Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for District 2 voters. Registered voters in the district who cast ballots in the Democrat Primary Aug. 6, or who did not vote Aug. 6, may participate in the runoff election.
