MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The Community Foundation of East Mississippi donated $1,000 to The Salvation Army Wednesday.
The organization will use the donation to provide blankets for the men’s shelter as well as funding to sponsor children through the Angel Tree.
The Community Foundation gives grants to local charities every year.
“When we receive a donation like this, they know it’s going to be used in the best way because it’s not going to be a duplication of services. We appreciate this organization recognizes that,” says Lt. Tamara Robb of The Salvation Army.
“It takes all of us working together to make a difference, to help each other, and to build each other up. We’re especially mindful of that this time of the year,” says Community Foundation executive director, Leigh Thomas.
Thomas says CFEM has given out over a million dollars in grants this year.
