MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - A slight chance for light showers can’t be ruled out throughout the area tonight as a shortwave system passes over the area. An increase in low level moisture will bring the chance for patchy fog to develop overnight. Overnight lows will stay in the upper 40s. Starting tomorrow we will hit the 70s and stay there until late week. Fog will make it into the early morning hours tomorrow, and then we are looking at mostly cloudy skies with stray showers throughout the day. Overnight lows are staying very mild this upcoming week. Sunday night temperatures will bottom out in the middle 50s.
The pattern, while warm, is a bit unsettled. We are seeing rain chances almost every day this week. Monday will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers, but highs will be in the lower 70s. Tuesday we are seeing highs rise into the middle 70s with isolated showers and mostly cloudy skies. Lows will be in the low 60s. Stray showers are in place for Wednesday during the day under mostly cloudy skies. There will be few breaks of sun and temperatures will spike to upper 70s in the afternoon. Lows will stay in the lower 60s. Thursday during the day there will be light, stray showers to start and then overnight the chance for thunderstorms through the area will become more dominate. During the day however temperatures will be pushing 80 in some locations by the afternoon.
The next cold front will arrive late Thursday and into early Friday morning. Exact timing of this is lacking confidence right now. This could be a time where we could see some severe weather. We will track the strength of this front later this week, but in the region there will be plenty of instability and shear for this time. For both Friday and Saturday temperatures will be cooler, but mostly cloudy skies remain.
