MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Tonight showers will continue across East Mississippi as the passing of the cold front tracks eastward into the early morning hours of Sunday. Temperatures for tonight will drop into the lower 40s with cloudy skies. After a few light showers early Sunday we will being to dry up and cool down. By the afternoon temperatures will rise into the lower 50s under mostly cloudy skies. Overnight conditions will be more favorable for cooling Sunday night will a drier air mass moving in and decreasing cloud cover. Lows for Sunday will be in the middle 30s.
Monday morning will be dry and chilly with temperatures struggling to reach 50 in the afternoon. Skies will not be completely cleared with clouds yet. Expect partly cloudy skies throughout the day high pressure will not be building in the twin states region until the overnight hours into Tuesday. This means Monday night/ Tuesday morning will have prime conditions for cooling. Some areas toward our northern counties will have the chance to reach freezing, but Meridian will likely remain just above the freezing mark. We will be under the influence of high pressure all day on Tuesday allowing us to see ample sunshine. Highs will reach middle 50s with lows dropping into the middle 30s. The same story goes for Wednesday as we can expect another mostly sunny day with temperatures just a tad bit warmer. Highs will reach upper 50s and lows bottom out near 40.
Rain chances will return later in the day on Thursday ahead of the next system moving through the area. Highs will be in the lower 60s and lows in the upper 40s. Friday will bring more isolated showers during the day and scattered showers overnight. More rain is on the way for the weekend as a stronger low pressure system to our west will be tracking through the Midwest. Long periods of rain are to be expected throughout the day on Saturday.
