Today we reached an official high of 98 in Meridian which is about 6 degrees above normal. We will remain muggy overnight with temperatures dropping to the mid 70s.
Sunday, high pressure begins to breakdown and we will see more coverage of rain across the area. Still, these are pop-up showers and storms so not everyone will see rain. This same pattern continues through out much of next week. Highs will remain in the mid 90s with a chance for a pop-up storm each day.
Things get more interesting as we head into the end of next week as we turn our attention towards the tropics. A trough of low pressure that is currently situated near Memphis, TN will drop into the northern Gulf early next week. Long-range models are hinting at a potential tropical system to develop in the northern Gulf and track westward by the end of next week. The potential for development is very low at this time but still something to watch. Regardless of development, we could see an increase in rain coverage across the area by late next week.
