Highs have reached the mid 90s this afternoon with heat index values in the triple digits. Thunderstorms have remained to our north and east and should remain there through tonight. Still, a stray shower can't be ruled out. Lows will only cool down to the mid 70s overnight.
Sunday will be mostly dry as well, but a stray shower and storm is still possible during the heat of the afternoon. Highs will be in the mid 90s again with triple digit heat index values. Be sure to drink plenty of water and take breaks inside if you plan on being outdoors for an extended period of time.
Overnight, heading into Monday, a stalled frontal boundary will be positioned over the northern portion of the state and may cause a complex of thunderstorms to develop. If this occurs, we could have a line of thunderstorms move across east Mississippi and west Alabama early Monday morning. We will have to monitor this over the next 24 hours.
For the rest of the week, a chance for a pop-up storm remains each day with highs remaining in the mid 90s.
