Search for suspect in shooting incident in Meridian

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) -- Meridian police are searching for a suspect who fired gunshots at someone Thursday afternoon.

Meridian Police Chief Benny Dubose says it happened around 1:30 at the 4000 block of 36th Street.

Chief Dubose says the suspect aimed a gun at a witness. The witness tells police he told the suspect not be playing with guns, but the suspect continued to approach him.Then the two people got into an argument, and the suspect shot two rounds into the person's car.

Police arrived on the scene and blocked it off. The crime scene was just three blocks away from West Hills Elementary School.

The suspect got away, but Chief Dubose says they know who the suspect is and will charge him with shooting into a car.
