Senate candidate Tobey Bartee makes Meridian stop
Three candidates are on the Mississippi Democrat primary ballot for U.S. Senate.
Tobey Bartee, Jensen Bohren and Mike Espy are competing to face off against Republican incumbent Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith.
Bartee, from Gautier, was in the military for 20 years and has a degree in mechanical engineering.
Bartee told Newscenter 11 he's excited to see what happens and says he's ready to share his ideas to help the state. Those ideas include improving ACA healthcare, education policy, combating poverty and improving infrastructure.
“One thing we have to do as a state is, we have to synchronize our efforts in a way we have not done in the past. When we are looking at this holistically, federal, state, and local policies have to be synchronized with the vision that moves the state forward. Part of our responsibility as an elected official will be making sure that we’re part of that broader team and that team is working towards that broader goal,” said Bartee.
The 2020 Mississippi Democratic Primary will take place on Tuesday, March 10.
