01/12/20 - Hopefully you enjoyed the dry weather today because rain will make its return tomorrow. Chances for rain will remain in the forecast for the next several days as we get stuck in an unsettled pattern.
Expect mostly cloudy skies with lows only dropping into the low 50s. The cloud cover acts as a blanket and prevents the heat from radiating back into the atmosphere. A stray shower can't be ruled out but areas dense fog will be more of an issue.
Expect and mild and somewhat soggy start to the week as a warm front approaches the area Monday, bringing a chance for showers and perhaps a rumble of thunder across the area. The front will eventually stall out across the northern half of Mississippi, keeping us in a warm and humid environment. Highs on Monday will be in the mid 60s.
A stalled frontal boundary will allow for showers and even a thunderstorm or two to be possible through at least Thursday. This could cause even more issues with flooding on area rivers so we will have to watch that closely. Temperatures will be well above average this week with highs in the low to mid 70s. Lows will be in the upper 50s to low 60s. Cooler weather will return by next weekend.
