SHUBUTA, Miss. (WTOK) - The shelter located in Shubuta will be closing this Monday.
The shelter has been open for a little over a week to help those affected by the flooding. The Red Cross has been at the shelter to help with immediate care for victims. The shelter was suppose to close sooner, but since so many people were affected it has been extended to Monday. Red Cross says they will keep a shelter open depending on the severity of the situation.
"Basically it's the needs of the community and the people around. If they have a place to be that's safe we do try to move them into there so they can be on their own but in this particular case there was no place," said Karl Morgue, division adviser for spiritual care.
The shelter is located behind the Shubuta Volunteer Fire Department
