Suspect sought in Friday night's deadly shooting

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - One person is dead and the search for the killer is underway in Meridian. It all happened around 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the Citgo gas station on Highway 19 N.

Police Chief Benny Dubose says the deadly shooting was the result of an ongoing dispute between two or three people. He says one of the men was in line in the Citgo. when two people walked in and punched him.

Dubose says the man that was hit pulled a gun and started shooting, which led to a shootout and the death of a 28 year old black male. Coroner Clayton Cobler says one person was shot several times and died inside of the store.

“One black male was found dead with multiple gunshots. He was 28 years old. The body is going to Pearl for an autopsy at the crime lab that will be Monday.

Police say they have not identified the shooter or the man that was with the victim.
