Shots fired outside Bonita Lakes Mall in Meridian

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK)- The Meridian Police Department responded to a shooting call at Bonita Lakes Mall Saturday night on what is typically one of the busiest shopping days of the holiday season.

Officers responded around 6:50. Police Captain John Griffith says two groups were arguing outside one of the main mall entrances. The argument escalated when at least two or three shots were fired.

Two cars in the parking lot were struck by gunfire. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

Police do not have a suspect or suspects, but witnesses told officers they believe they saw a blue Lexus leaving the area right after the shots were fired.

Call Meridian Police or East Mississippi Crimestoppers if you have any information.
