MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The Program for Public Information Committee announced its winner for its annual slogan contest Wednesday morning.
The contest is given to students across Lauderdale County and the city of Meridian too see which student comes up with the best slogan that raises awareness about the need for flood insurance. This year’s winner was Glorious Johnson, a sixth grade student at West Lauderdale Middle School. Her slogan was ‘Stay Afloat, Without a Boat. Purchase Flood Insurance.
“At first I didn’t know about it but then my mom told me about it and we made up a slogan,” Johnson says.
A graphic design contest that goes along with the slogan was also held by the committee. The winner of that was Jeanne Brookins, a student at Meridian Community College.
