MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Mississippi lawmakers are getting ready for another busy legislative session. The new session starts Tuesday.
House Speaker Pro Tem Greg Snowden, of Meridian, says the 2018 agenda will include rewriting the K-12 funding formula, roads and bridges and the Medicaid program.
The House and Senate were at odds at the end of last session over funding for roads and bridges, but Snowden is hopeful for a decision.
"I do know that the House and Senate have had very productive discussions over the last few months in preparation for the session and I'm hopeful a plan will come forward that will probably have a variety of different measures that hopefully will allow for better infrastructure," said Snowden.
Snowden also says he expects a state lottery to come up for discussion this year. A study of its viability was authorized in 2017 but approval is not certain.
