MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - If you don’t feel like cooking your own Thanksgiving meal this holiday, you're not alone. You’ll find that out the moment you step into some local restaurants.
“It’ll be a large crowd. We have been capacity the last couple of Thanksgivings,” says Ted Burton, the owner of Queen City Truck Stop/Magnolia Restaurant in Meridian.
“On Thursdays, especially Thanksgiving, we have quite a few people who kind of use the Checker Board as a mini reunion place where we have 30 or 40 people coming in a group. We have, at this time, right at 300 reservations, and we’re booked completely until 1:00,” says Robert Frazier, owner of Checker Board.
There are many restaurants in our area open this Thanksgiving.
The Magnolia Restaurant will be open 24/7 like it always is, and The Checker Board will be open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“We’ve always felt that this was a gathering place for families and friends in that they come and stay. They don’t even want to leave when they get here sometimes. And the food is wonderful. We have an excellent staff that does a tremendous job cooking,” Frazier explains.
So if you don’t want to deal with the stress of cooking and having people over, you can stop by and sit back and relax while other people make food for you.
“We love our customers; they’re part of our family. We work hard to try to make them happy, and they bend over backwards trying to help us,” says Frazier.
“The turnout will be exceptionally well, at least it has been in the past for Thanksgiving,” adds Burton.
