LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Miss. (WTOK) - Emergency services were stretched thin due to several wrecks that took place during the storm Sunday.
At least five wrecks took place within a thirty minute time-span. Three of them were rollovers. Volunteer fire departments with assistance from the Meridian Fire Department had to cut one person out of the heavily damaged vehicle near the 162 mile marker near the Mississippi Welcome Center.
MHP Sergeant Andy West says there were nearly 10 accidents around the same time. West says six people were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
