A Freeze Warning is in effect from midnight tonight until 8 AM Saturday for Lauderdale, Neshoba, Newton, Kemper, Clarke, Winston, Noxubee, Leake, Scott, Smith, Jasper, Jones, and Wayne counties in East Mississippi and for Choctaw County in West Alabama. A Freeze Warning is in effect from 10 PM tonight until 8 AM Saturday for Sumter, Marengo, Greene, Hale, and Pickens counties in West Alabama.
Dress warmly tonight if you will be outside for long periods of time in the cold weather. This includes our high school football games. Wearing several layers of warm clothing is more effective at keeping you warm than just a heavy coat. Kickoff temperatures will be in the mid-40s. There will be just enough wind to knock wind chills down into the upper 30s at times. We will cool into the upper 30s by the end of the games.
Temperatures will drop into the upper 20s by morning. Bright sun will warm us through the 40s and into the mid-to-upper 50s by noon. We will spend most of the afternoon in the 50s with a brief period of lower 60s. Saturday evening will cool from 50s to 40s quickly. Sunday will be mostly sunny and slightly warmer. The morning low temperatures will be in the mid-to-upper 30s. The afternoon highs will be in the mid-60s.
OUR NEXT WEATHER MAKER
The next weather maker arrives on Monday. It will bring rain, especially late Monday afternoon and Monday night. There's still some indication that the last of the rain may change to sleet for some of us. It isn't likely to happen over all of East Mississippi and West Alabama. It will be spotty in nature and limited to our far northern areas if it happens at all. While the possibility is still present, the probability doesn't seem to be very high. The rain may end before temperatures drop enough to see a changeover to wintry precipitation.
