Things are quiet this morning with temperatures in the lower 70s. It will be a hot one today, with highs near 96 and heat index values near 105. There is a heat advisory in effect until this evening - so be cautious if you have to be outdoors for any extended period of time this afternoon. Pop-up showers are possible again this afternoon, more widespread than what we have seen so far this week. But still, not everyone is expected to see rain in their backyard.
Looking ahead - rain coverage will become greater as we head into the weekend. Friday will be similar to today with highs in the mid-upper 90s and a chance for afternoon storms. As of right now, Saturday will be the best day to see rain across the area. Any storms that do develop are the typical summertime thunderstorms, so if you have any outdoor plans there's no need to cancel them - just have a back-up plan in place.
We will be even hotter as we head into early next week, with high temperatures making a run for 100.
