Thursday, July 11 Morning Forecast Discussion

7/11/19 - It is another muggy and sticky start to the day with temperatures in the mid 70s and dew points in the 70s as well. Highs today will be in the mid to upper 90s with isolated storms moving through the area during the afternoon hours.

We are continuing to watch what is expected to become Barry later today. As of the 5am advisory from the National Hurricane Center, the system is expected to make landfall near Morgan City, LA as a category 1 hurricane. This means that the track of the system has continued to shift eastward with the last few advisories.

With a more eastward track, we would likely see more impacts in east Mississippi and west Alabama. Heavy rain and isolated tornadoes would be possible if the system continues to move slightly more to the east.

Once again, this all depends on the track and intensity of the system. Regardless, expect a fairly soggy weekend ahead.
