Tropical Storm Barry forms in the Gulf

Potential Tropical Cyclone Two has strengthened into Tropical Storm Barry with sustained winds at 40 mph as of the 10 a.m. CDT advisory from the National Hurricane Center.

The storm is currently expected to strengthen into a category 1 hurricane with sustained winds of 75 mph. The forecast calls for a landfall over Louisiana by Saturday morning.

Hurricane Watches have been issued by the National Hurricane Center from the mouth of the Mississippi River to Cameron, LA. Tropical Storm Warnings have been issued from the mouth of the Pearl River to Morgan City, LA. Tropical Storm Watches have been issued from have been issued from east of the mouth of the Pearl River to the MS/AL border and along Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas, including metro New Orleans
