Twelve new aviators received their "Wings of Gold"

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - 12 new aviators at Naval Air Station Meridian Thursday received their "Wings of Gold".

The Navy tradition marks the transition from trainer to full-fledged aviator. The ceremony marks the completion of nearly two years of specialized training. We had a chance to talk to one of the new pinned airmen. He says this moment was special because he was able to share it with his wife, who's also a naval aviator.

"Not being with your wife is tough. But, I think part of that is what makes it so special that she is here right now. So, the culmination of all that is what means the most and she's here to celebrate that with me. It means a lot," LTJG. Ross Gamelgaard said.

The naval aviators either completed their training with training squadron seven or training squadron nine.
