UNION, Miss. (WTOK) - Union School District welcomed a special guest Tuesday for its Celebration of Excellence in recognition of the district receiving an 'A' state accountability rating.
Dr. Carey Wright, the state superintendent of education, presented the Award of Excellence.
Union was one of 22 districts in Mississippi to receive an 'A' for two consecutive years and one of the 32 districts to receive the highest rating.
"Great news. Our graduation rates are at an all-time high. There's not an indicator that we're looking at that's not heading in the right direction," said Wright. "And you've just got a lot of great work going on with teachers and leaders across the state making it happen for the children across the state."
Enterprise School District also received the Award of Excellence for its 'A' rating.
