The turnout for Tuesday’s runoff wasn’t all that great, but that's not too surprising given the specific races.

Only one local race is on the ballot for Lauderdale County. The runoff between Craig Houston and Loretta "Lolo" Allen for the Lauderdale County Supervisor District 2 has drawn many voters to precincts in District 2.

"In a runoff unfortunately the turnout is slow today and low today. That’s statewide. It’s a shame because we think everybody, especially in a runoff, it gets to the nitty gritty everyone will show up,” Lauderdale Circuit Clerk Donna Jill Johnson says.

Johnson says election results should be in much sooner than they were three weeks ago.

As of 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, 44 people had voted in the Republican runoff at the Velma Young Community Center. There were 262 to vote on the democratic side at that time.
