Waitr gives back to families
The local Waitr app service is teaming with local restaurants to deliver free hot meals to thousands of families.
The Honey Baked Ham located on Front Street is celebrating the season of giving early by donating goods to the "Share Thanksgiving Food Drive campaign." the goal is to help feed families in need by providing them with free Thanksgiving meals. When anyone orders from Waitr, the company will make a donation toward buying meals for area families during the November holiday.
"Everybody wants a honey baked ham for the holidays and a lot of people can't afford that. We were excited to be able to help with waiter, to joy in with them, and to make people's holiday very special,” said Carrie Goodman, owner of Honey Baked Ham.
"We want to take the time out to give back to the community. Meridian has been so good to Waitr and we want to take that opportunity to give back to the less fortunate,” said Laquinton Holliday, Brand Ambassador.
Waitr is anticipating the delivery of more than 4,000 meals nationwide - doubling last year's total. The campaign will continue through November 22.
