Wednesday, May 15 Afternoon Forecast Discussion

By  |

Another warm and sunny day as high pressure remains firmly in control of our area. We will see a warmer night as winds have turned from the southwest. Lows tonight only drop into the lower 60s with highs remaining in the middle 80s.

We still look on track to make it to 90 on Saturday as temperatures continue to warm into the weekend. We will be close to complexes of thunderstorms diving southeastward each day, as is the case today through northeast Alabama, but high pressure should keep enough control of our weather to keep us dry and allow us to make it to 90 for the first time this year by Saturday.

Concerns of our next cold front not making it into our area seem to be removed today as all models agree on the front making into and through the area on Sunday and Monday. As a result, I will bump up rain chances on Sunday for scattered showers and storms with some leftover showers on Monday.

Highs will return to the 90s by the middle of next week. We will have to watch another front potentially on Wednesday. If that happens, highs will dip for a day or two. If not, lower to middle 90s will be with us for Wednesday into next weekend. For now, I will keep us dry and watch trends as we get closer.
