UNION, Miss. -- Some know him as "Mr. UHS," but others know him by his not-so-secret identity, Garrett Posey.
"We've known Garrett from the time he was in the seventh grade," said Union head football coach and Athletic Director, Brad Breland. "He developed into a really good player, and the last couple of years, he's been a really good leader for us."
"Garrett has always been that consistent factor," said Union powerlifting coach Darryl Jones. "He is a leader that stands out front - not always vocally, but by example."
A three-sport star at Union, Posey shines as a powerlifter, bowler, and football player for the Yellowjackets. When he's not playing those sports, you can find him front-and-center at the other UHS events.
"You really have to manage your time pretty well," Posey said. "There are a bunch of distractions that come your way. but you always have to try and avoid those whenever you're trying to balance both schoolwork and athletics."
Posey's work in the classroom is among the best of the best at Union High School. He's ranked in the top 15% of his class, with a 3.94 GPA and a 31 on his ACT.
He also serves at the student body president and Beta Club president at UHS. He signed his letter of intent to play football at Mississippi College earlier this month.
"It makes me proud to have guys like Garrett in our program," Breland said. "It makes our program look well in the community. He's just a leader in all aspects of the school."
