JACKSON, Miss. (WTOK) - More and more hunters will take to woods beginning this weekend in search of the elusive Mississippi White-tailed Deer. Deer gun season opens Saturday, Nov. 17.
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks says conservation officers will be out on patrol checking for valid hunting licenses and the proper use of safety equipment.
“Hunting without a license is our number one violation year after year, so making sure hunters are licensed and are practicing safe hunting techniques is our top priority.” said Col. Steve Adcock.
When hunting, always be sure of your target and what is beyond.
Apprentice Hunting Licenses are available for first time hunters and allowable without hunter’s education if a licensed or exempt resident hunter at least twenty-one years of age accompanies the apprentice hunter when hunting.
