SCOOBA, Miss. (WTOK) During Monday night's MACJC Tournament opener, No. 2 EMCC fell to No. 3 Jones College 70-65.

The Lions trailed 68-65 with 7.8 seconds remaining in the game. Sophomore guard Donte Powers tossed up a 3-point shot as the clock was winding down but was called for double dribble on a crossover.

The Bobcats would get the ball inbounds to Kenneth Rogers, who was fouled with 3.4 seconds to play. A technical foul was also called on Lions' head coach Bill Begley for arguing the double dribble call. Rogers made both of the technical foul shots to clinch the game for Jones.

Jones fell to EMCC 61-58 in last season's MACJC championship game but will now advance on to face No. 2 Pearl River.

No. 1 seed EMCC Lady Lions will face No. 4 seed Mississippi Gulf Coast on Tuesday at 5:30 pm.
