EMCC wins third consecutive MACJC State Championship

ELLISVILLE, Miss. (WTOK) - The top-ranked East Mississippi Lions (11-0) claimed their third consecutive MACJC State Championship in Ellisville Saturday with a 19-14 win over No. 4 Jones County.

With the win, the Lions are almost assured a spot in the NJCAA National Championship game in Pittsburgh, Kansas November 29th.

The Lions held just a 7-0 lead heading into halftime after a 28-yard touchdown pass from TyQuan Ulmer to Dontario Drummond. The two would connect again in the third quarter for a 73-yard score.

The Bobcats outgained the Lions 335 yards to 276 and took a 14-13 lead with 4:14 left in the third quarter after a Stetson Bennett pass to Gabe Douglass. But with 8:27 remaining in regulation, running back

Deon McIntosh rushed 71 yards to put the Lions ahead 19-14 for good.
The win improves Buddy Stephen’s record at EMCC to 109-13.
