MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Glenn Sanders was promoted Thursday as head football coach at Northeast Lauderdale. Sanders was serving as a defensive coordinator on John Douglass' staff before Douglass departed for the same job at Meridian last week.

The Lauderdale County School District approved the hiring of Sanders at their school board meeting Thursday evening.

Sanders' last head coaching stint was at West Lauderdale, where he complied a record of 12-22 from 2009-11. He led the Knights to a district title in 2009.

The Trojans open their season Aug. 23 at home against Meridian.
