Lake, Neshoba Central advance to Slowpitch Softball State Championships

MERIDIAN. Miss. (WTOK) - Lake and Neshoba Central have advanced to their respective Slowpitch Softball State Championships after North and South State wins Tuesday.

In the Class I South State Championship, Lake used big bats to defeat the Lady Tigers 19-3 and 21-7, completing the series sweep.

In the Class II North State Championship, Neshoba Central took command over Newton County with a 13-8 Game 1 win, but the Lady Cougars bounced back with a 10-6 Game 2 win.

That forced a decisive Game 3, and the Lady Rockets rode off into the North State sunset with a 17-10 win.

The 2019 MHSAA C-Spire Slowpitch Softball State Championships will take place Saturday at Liberty Park in Madison.

Both series are scheduled for an 11am first pitch.

In Class I, Lake will take on North State champion Houston.

In Class II, Neshoba Central will face the winner of Thursday's North Pike vs. Wayne County South State Championship.
