MAIS District II 4A Tournament: Heritage boys, Leake girls come out on top

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) Lamar School hosted the MAIS District II 4A Tournament this past week with the Raiders, East Rankin Academy, Heritage Academy, Winston Academy, Starkville Academy and Leake Academy competing in both the girls and boys' brackets. The tournament decided seeding for next week's North State Tournament in Senatobia.

Here's a look at Saturday's final tournament matchups:

Girls' championship game: Leake Academy vs. Starkville Academy
The Lady Rebels of Leake Academy led Starkville 48-10 at halftime in the match and would go on to win 63-32. They will be the No. 1 seed in next week's North State Tournament while Starkville girls will be the No. 2 seed.

Boys' championship game: Heritage Academy vs. Starkville Academy
The Patriots of Heritage Academy beat Starkville 46-44 in overtime to win the boy's bracket. They will be the No. 1 seed in next week's North State Tournament while Starkville boys will be the No. 2 seed.

Girls' consolation game: Lamar School vs. Heritage Academy
The Lady Raiders of Lamar edged out Heritage in a close one, winning 37-34. They will now be the No. 3 seed in next week's North State Tournament while Heritage girls will be the No. 4 seed. The Lady Raiders will play Bayou Academy who are the No. 2 seed in their division.

Boys' consolation game: Lamar School vs. Leake Academy
The Raiders beat the Rebels 60-55 to secure the No. 3 seed in next week's North State Tournament. They will now face Bayou Academy who are the No. 2 seed in their division. Leake Academy boys will enter the state tournament as the No. 4 seed.
