Meridian head football coach placed on administrative leave

MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - A source confirmed to Newscenter 11 Sports Monday that the Meridian Public School District placed head football coach Martez Edwards on administrative leave.

MPSD released a statement stating "The Meridian Public School District is aware of the inappropriate photo circulating of an MPSD employee. The employee has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation by the school district.”

An inappropriate photo of what appears to be Edwards began circulating on social media Monday morning.

Edwards coached the last two seasons at Forest Park (GA) High School, where he compiled a 5-17 record over the last two seasons. Before Forest Park, Edwards guided the Bessemer City Tigers to a 30-18 record over a four-year period.
