BILOXI, Miss. -- The Meridian boys basketball team will return to the Mississippi Coliseum for the third season in a row, beating Biloxi 55-51 Tuesday night to advance to the 6A Final Four.
Both offenses started the night slow, with the Indians holding a 9-6 advantage after the first quarter. The Wildcats attacked in the 2nd, pouring in 20 points to give MHS a 26-24 lead at the halftime break.
Meridian led for a majority of the second half, but the Indians stayed within striking range all the way to the final seconds. The Wildcats forced a Biloxi turnover with under 30 seconds to go, which led to Kyler Yarbrough getting the game-winning layup that would ultimately give Meridian the victory.
This is the third consecutive season the Meridian boys have reached the 6A Final Four.
The Wildcats await the winner of Thursday's Murrah/Tupelo game. Meridian will play March 6th at 7pm at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson.
