STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Johnny Manziel. Matt Jones. Dak Prescott. Tim Tebow.
All four are some of the best running quarterbacks in SEC history.
All four are now looking up at Nick Fitzgerald in the SEC record books.
The senior Mississippi State quarterback outrushed Auburn by himself on Saturday night, carrying the ball 28 times for 195 yards with 2 touchdowns in the Bulldogs 23-9 win over the 8th-ranked Auburn Tigers. The performance put Fitzgerald above Tim Tebow for most rushing yards by a quarterback in SEC history. Tonight also marked his 17th career 100-yard game at Mississippi State.
Fitzgerald helped snapped a seven quarter touchdown drought for MSU as the first half came to a close, with a 4th and goal touchdown run that gave the Bulldogs a 13-3 lead going into the locker room.
Sophmore running back Kylin Hill added to the successful rushing attack with 23 carries for 123 yards, his second 110-yard performance of the season.
Mississippi State moves to 4-2 on the season, picking up the first SEC win of the Joe Moorhead era in Starkville.
Auburn falls to 4-2, 1-2 in conference play.
MSU will have an open date next week, before traveling to Baton Rouge to face LSU on October 20th.
