No. 3 Washington ends Mississippi State Softball’s season

SEATTLE, Wa. (WTOK) - Washington (48-7-0) defeated Mississippi State (35-23-0) softball twice during the Seattle Regional – during the winner’s bracket on Saturday, 6-1, and again in the regional championship game, 8-0. After scoring twice in the top of the first inning, the Bulldogs managed to hold the Huskies to zero additional runs until Washington unloaded five in the fifth led by a 2-run homer from Morganne Flores. The Huskies then scored again in the seventh inning off of an Emma Helm double RBI, which was ultimately the final run in the game.

Mississippi State was not able to compete offensively as the team was unable to register any hits off of pitcher Gabbie Plain, who threw 10 strikeouts in seven innings.

Washington will face the winner of the Lexington Regional – Kentucky.
