No.1 EMCC advances to MACJC State Championship

SCOOBA, Miss. -- The best in the North will meet the best in the South in this year's MACJC State Championship.

The #1 East Mississippi Lions dominated #16 Copiah-Lincoln 31-7 in Saturday's MACJC State semi-final matchup in Scooba. The win gives Lions head coach Buddy Stephens his 13th career playoff victory. He will play for his third straight MACJC State Championship.

On offense, Messiah deWeaver was 28-34-1 for 275 yards and a TD, while Deon McIntosh rushed for 105 yards on 22 carries. It was McIntosh's 5th 100-yard game of the 2018 season.

Defensively, Everitt Cunningham put together a career performance with four sacks. The Lions as a whole held the Wolves to just 34 rushing yards and 200 total yards offensively.

No. 1 EMCC will travel to No. 6 Jones next Saturday for the MACJC Championship. Game time is 2PM.
