MSU will host a Super Regional this weekend in Starkville against either Stanford or Fresno State. The Bulldogs went undefeated in their own regional beating Southern University, Central Michigan and Miami. Ole Miss will travel to the Arkansas Super Regional this weekend. The Rebels’ bats came alive as they swept Jacksonville State and Clemson in their regional. Super Regionals are a best two of three game series with the winner heading to Omaha for the College World Series.

USM won two games in the LSU Regional before falling to the home standing Tigers. USM beat Arizona State twice in the tournament. In Sunday’s win over Arizona State, USM was down 12-6 entering the bottom of the eighth inning but scored three times in that inning and then rallied to score four more times in the bottom of the ninth inning for another miracle win for the Golden Eagles (40-21).

Checking Ole Miss Football Schedule

College football will be here in less than 90 days. Ole Miss will visit Memphis, Mississippi State heads to New Orleans to face Louisiana, and Southern Mississippi will entertain Alcorn State.

This week in the first of a three part series we look at the Ole Miss football schedule.

The Rebels are coming off a 5-7 season that began with lots of expectations. Ole Miss was 5-2 before falling to Auburn, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt and Mississippi State in consecutive weeks. The 2019 Ole Miss Rebels’ first two contests could go a long way in determining if they will have a successful season in Coach Matt Luke’s third season as head coach. The opening two games with Memphis and Arkansas will go a long way in deciding if this addition of the Rebels will have holiday travel plans in December. Losses to either or both of these teams could be too much to overcome. The Rebels should be heavy favorites against non-conference opponents SE Louisiana, California and New Mexico State. This year another tough October stretch could decide their bowl chances. The Rebels in that month play Vanderbilt, Missouri, A&M and Auburn. The bottom line for Ole Miss is if they want to win seven games, they have to beat three SEC teams, and the most likely teams are Arkansas, Missouri and Vandy. They probably will not beat Alabama and LSU. Auburn and MSU round out the schedule, and if those teams are struggling, Ole Miss could surprise the football experts. The Rebels’ overall record could end up anywhere from 3-9 to 8-4.
