BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WTOK) After beating Greensboro 38-37 in the AHSAA Regional Finals, the Lady Jags fell to Deshler 64-52 on Tuesday night in the 4A state semifinals at BJCC Arena.

The last time Sumter Central won the state title was back in 2010 as 3A school Sumter County.

Last season, the Sumter Central made it all the way to the regional finals before losing to Greensboro 65-52. This season, the Lady Jags got their revenge on the Lady Raiders to earn a spot in the 4A state semifinals.

The Lady Jags faced powerhouse Deshler in the semifinal matchup, a team that has won seven state titles, with the most recent coming in 2016.

A key second-half run by Deshler gave them the advantage they needed to pull away with a 64-52 victory over the Lady Jags.

Despite the loss, Sumter Central's Chardai Watkins still had 21 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and three steals in the contest while LaDasia Giles added 15 points, seven rebounds and four steals.

Deshler will advance on to face Anniston in the AHSAA 4A State Championship on Friday, 2/28.
